Only a few months ago, young Awa Bless Chi caused a sensation on the web following the publication of a video that quickly became viral in which he demonstrated his talent as a budding mechanical engineer. Thanks to his breath-takinggenius, the young man masters the ability to create miniaturized but complex, perfectly functional machines, which are poweredusing simple batteries.

Nevertheless, as aninternally displaced victim of the crisis from the North West region of Cameroon, lifehas been very challenging financially for the young Chi. Now living in Douala, together with his little cousin and his mother, as his only parent, the Chi collects some coins from people on the street and admiring his deeds. This constitute the only support to his family. This precariousness forced him to leave school at a young age.

Cases of very gifted young people, inventive minds and young engineers such as the one of the young boy Chi are unfortunately numerous in Cameroon. In order to cope with this situation, the VKII e.V. believes that such geniuses must be quickly identified, channelled and supervised, in order to best deploy their talents for the well-being of the country. This would potentially help improving the social living conditions of our compatriots, while further restoring Cameroon’s scientific reputation abroad.

It is in this sense that the VKII e.V., by its section of Berlin (VKII-Berlin e.V.),has just launched a prize pool, which will be entirely donated to the young Chi, in order to enable him not only to return to a technology-orientedschool as a priority for the next school year, but also to perfect his mechanical experiments in order to improve his technological creations. We are convinced that empowering the next generation of Cameroonians both local and international would help build a technologically strong Cameroon one step at a time.

This is therefore an official call for contributions and support for anyone who is either passionate about this particular case or supports the vision of empowering the next generation. We offer two ways of contributions

Il y a seulement quelques mois de cela, le jeune Awa Bless Chi faisait sensation sur la toile suite à la publication d’une vidéo devenue très vite virale dans laquelle il démontrait son talent d’ingénieur en herbe en construction mécanique. Grâce à son génie époustouflant, le jeune homme a créé des engins miniaturisés mais complexes, parfaitement fonctionnels, qu’il fait mouvoir grâce à une batterie.

Néanmoins, orphelin et réfugié de guerre originaire de la région du Nord-Ouest Cameroun, la vie financière n’a pas toujours sourit au jeune Chi. Aujourd’hui installé à Douala, avec son petit cousin et sa mère, seule parent, le jeune Chi collecte de la part de passants admiratifs de ses œuvres, quelques pièces de monnaie, pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Cette précarité l’a d’ailleurs obligé à quitter le chemin de l’école à son jeune âge.

Des cas de jeunes doués, pleins d’esprit inventifs et ingénieurs tel celui du jeune Chi sont malheureusement légion au Cameroun. Seulement la VKII e.V. pense que de tel génies doivent être rapidement repérés, impérativement canalisés et encadrés, afin de déployer au mieux leurs talents pour le bien-être du pays, dans le but d’améliorer les conditions de vie sociale de nos compatriotes, tout en redorant davantage le blason scientifique du Cameroun à l’étranger.

C’est dans ce sens que la VKII e.V., par sa section de Berlin (VKII-Berlin e.V.)vient de lancer une cagnotte qui sera entièrement reversée au compte du jeune Chi, afin de lui permettre pour la prochaine rentrée scolairenon seulement prioritairement de reprendre le chemin d’une école spécialisée, mais aussi de perfectionner ses expérimentations mécaniques afin d’améliorer ses créations technologiques qui, nous en sommes convaincus, hisseront un jour très haut les couleurs du drapeau technologique camerounais.
